I have a love / hate relationship with the European way of shopping. I enjoy seeing / tasting all the unique things available at specialty shops, but I miss having a *insert local big food chain name* type store around I can run 'to just grab a few essentials'. While there is certainly something sweet and quaint about having a neighborhood bakery shop, cake shop, grocery shop, farmers market, butcher shop, cheese shop, Italian goods shop, Asian goods shop, health food shop, apotheke, 'bio' shop, drug store, flower shop, drink shop and wine shop, there is also something exhausting about it too.
