Tonight we're heading to Brussels to celebrate Brian's big 30 on Sunday. Although we're pretty bumbed out that we can't celebrate this big life moment with friends and family, we are pretty happy to embrace the gluttony of Belgian beer and food this weekend. We already have on the agenda: Lots of Lambic ales (on tap!), Moules-frites and waffles (the best ones we've found were from a van parked outside the farmers market - creepy, but so, so yummy!).
We have been to Brussels before and did the museums and touristy things (the
Musical Instrument Museum was interesting), so we feel less guilty about making this trip all about the experience.
Tonight we get off the train around 9pm. We will check into the
NH Hotel du Grand Sablon and go directly to the awesome
Delirum Cafe. This place was packed both nights we were in Brussels last time - with over 2000 beers to choose from I understand why.
Saturday we plan to go to the
Cantillion Brewery for a tour followed by
Chez Moeder Lambic - yet another awesome bar with tons of local beer on tap - including the lambics that are fermented with the natural yeasts of the air around Brussels. Yey!
Hopefully we can scrape ourselves out of bed on Sunday to catch our train home :)
Have a wonderful weekend!
